Thank you from the team

19th December 2017
Thank you from the team

A very Merry Christmas from everyone at Primrose Lodge and a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us.

It has been a very busy year, that proudly saw us as a runner up for

“The Bournemouth Daily Echo Care Home of the Year Award“

With your help, we were able to take our residents out on 6 trips, including the Oceanarium and pub lunches. We also enjoyed our annual Christmas trip to Haskins Garden Centre for tea, coffee, cake and a look at all the beautiful Christmas decorations.

Your financial support enabled us to have two extra entertainers a month, aswell as our long standing entertainers, Paul from Alive and June Gent our keep fit instructor.

Some of our highlights this year was a return visit from the beautiful alpacas and also the Creature Teachers, who brought a selection of animals for us to hold and learn about - including a snake!

We played drums with heike and learned French with Laurence. We also had entertainment from a variety of singers and musicians including a classical quartet.

We have had several parties including our Summer Fayre, a disco, a baby shower for Carer Alice and manager Anita’s 40th birthday.

We had fun and lots of laughs for Wimbledon playing table balloon tennis, drinking pimms, and eating strawberries and cream. Our annual mad day of dressing up and fun, supporting Children in Need, saw residents and staff dressed for school!

Without your support at our Summer Fayre, events, raffles and auctions, we would not be able to have the trips out or entertainment that helps to keep your friends and relatives happy, busy and entertained.  Unfortunately the funding for activities is always last on the list, and with the average cost of an outside entertainer now £70 an hour, and the hire of a disabled mini bus over £150, your support for our fundraising is vital and very much appreciated!

Please don’t forget, help in the home with activities or a friendly chat with our residents is always welcome, as is help on our trips.

Myself and the Primrose team thank you again and hope you have a Happy Christmas and New Year!
