About Southbourne

Situated in the county of Dorset, Southbourne is the most easterly part of the Borough of Bournemouth. The area was previously known as Stourfield. Edmund Bott built a Georgian mansion called Stourfield House in 1766 which later became a care home for injured servicemen in the Great War. Southbourne Grove is a long shopping street which features unique and individual shops rather than high street shops. Seafield Gardens is an open space which offers various outdoor facilities such as bowls and tennis which is open to the public. One of the most popular attractions is Southbourne is the Blue Flag Beach which is a quieter, sandy retreat away from the busy Bournemouth coast.

-Built in 1935, the Fishermans Walk Cliff Lift to its beach below. It features a great cliff top cafe and children’s play area at the bottom to entice families to take the lift up and down.
